“The health risks posed by youth vaping should not be underestimated. E-cigarettes are an adult product suitable for ex-smokers and marketing and use to children is unacceptable. Stores need to ensure they have systems in place to avoid selling vaping to minors , and train employees accordingly.

I would like to thank all of our partners and members of the public for reporting illegal sales and encourage everyone to continue to do so to reduce the harm tobacco and vaping causes to our communities. “

Pauleen Grahame MP, member of the West Yorkshire United Services Committee, who oversees Trading Standards, said: “It would be patently irresponsible not to verify the age at which teenage shoppers are buying restricted goods. Trading Standards officers carry out regular test purchases to ensure shops comply with e-cigarettes. , tobacco and alcohol sales laws. Simply requiring identification and age verification will help reduce underage vaping and tobacco use.”
